Yoni (Yonatan) Vell was Born in 1996 in Jerusalem to a Jewish-Moroccan father and a Russian-Jewish mother, almost opposites. Grew up in a suburb of Jerusalem with the artistic education of his mother and grandmother, who was a stage director in the USSR. He learned to play the piano and dance ballet from a very young age. Later, when he was 12, after his parents' divorce, he moved to Ashkelon. There he faced war (the Israel-Hamas war) from that young age until today.
Growing up under rocket attacks affected him and his creative world. He studied at the public school Ironi Alef and chose majors in Theatre and Computer Science.
His grandmother's house in a village in Lithuania affected him as well, spending every summer there - he was much more connected to nature and calmness.
Later, after traveling the world a bit at age 18, he had to do his military service, where he went through trainings and was an EMT for novices. After 8 months, he found himself out and free again.
After the military service, he decided to follow his dreams and went to study music production. He attended BPM College for two years for their full program.
Later, he started independently releasing music.
With COVID-19, Yoni found himself lost in the big city and had the beautiful opportunity to move to a small town in the Negev desert. There he attended a performance art and dance school (Zuzima) for their full yearly intensive program. He slowly started coming back to himself.
In the desert he began performing with his ambient music show and gained experience in filmmaking as well. He released his first album "Healing in Process" and his first short film "Maybe Sinai."
With the war of October 7th, which affected his close family and surroundings very much, he decided to discontinue his studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and went to travel the world again.
In India, Yoni joined an intensive Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Course.
A few months later, Yoni joined the Auroville Film Institute program for documentary filmmaking and has studied with Debkamal Ganguly and Richa Hushing.
He then created in the course the short documentary "Sound of a Land" and made a few video essays — about Phyang Monastery, about the Changthang nomads, and about Tar Village.
After an intense year of war and traveling, Yoni decided to join the School of Visual Theater, where he studies interdisciplinary arts.
In the first year of studies, he created the multidisciplinary work "Fire, Fire," where he choreographed, directed, and designed from A to Z, and created music and sound design for various artists, including Avigayil Rose and Moksha Kashani.
